This may not be up to your standards, today. But, from this kitchen (and others like it during 1700s and 1800s America), big and labor-intensive meals came into being. Just imagine: five to six-course meals that lasted for up to two or three hours! All served on very elegant glass and silverware. Now, compare that with the contemporary cabinetry and granite in our kitchens: more aesthetic than utilitarian. It doesn’t matter how many gadgets you have. Hooray for the microwave!!!
